John has been actively involved in photography for more than 45 years. He has entered many national and international photo salons. He remained faithful to the trade, starting off as a photo lithographer in the printing industry and mastering the technique of studio photography as well as out in the field, gaining design and artistic skills.

John was brought up in Zambia and spent much of his time in the bush and even as a child was intrigued at how amazing nature is.

After immigrating to South Africa and living in Johannesburg, he started an apprentice as a photo lithographer. However, the yearning for the outdoors was still in his blood. In his trade, he produced several magazines and came into contact with great outdoor photographers who inspired him to take up photography and join a photo club. In 1976, he joined the Johannesburg Photo Society and specialised in black and white photography and set up his dark room where he learned the skills of darkroom photography which was closely associated to his trade.
